P2 Chinese Speech & Drama

This year our chinese speech and drama had vibrant costumes again! We always enjoyed it. It's so much fun! The learning process was challenging though. We had to make sure that our diction of the chinese words were pronounced accurately. The timing for each group of characters must respond promptly. We had to stay focussed!
Look at our vest! We look really smart in it!

We liked our red vest! How about you?

The weather is too warm?? Nope! We're getting ready for our act! Doing our last rehearsal before we head up to the stage! Wish us luck!

Chess Enrichment

Check-mate!!! Wait a minute!! No........I still have a few more moves to it. You better beware.

We're having so much fun at chess enrichment in school. Some of us are expert players as we joined modular chess so we share our learning with our other friends who are at beginner stage. They played rather well too.

During the chess enrichment lessons, we learnt the steps used in chess such as promote. There are lots of rules and regulations and we have to follow it. We also learnt lots of values through the activities such as perserverance, never give up spirit to continue even when we have less chess pieces than our friends. Take courage to take risk to lure and defend. Respect, once our hands move away from the chess pieces, we should not request to move back the chess pieces.

At the end, we had a quick ten minutes match. Some of us won a prize for ourselves! Hurray!!

ICT Lesson

We're excited about school lately because we can go to the computer lab to learn a lot of IT skills such as touch typing, insert picture, formatting in both Microsoft Words and Powerpoint.

We were amazed by the pictures when we search for them to insert into our presentation. All the pictures were beautiful. We're spoilt by choices.

The most challenging part of ICT lesson was formatting. There were a lot of steps to follow and check boxes for us to tick so that the effect appears. At times, our clumsy tiny fingers will press on the wrong keys and get our work deleted.

"Aarrrgghh!!" that's one of the common vocabulary we have at computer lab. This would be the time where our instructor and teachers would come to the resuce. Lucky for us, most of the time, they are able to locate back our work.

Maths Fun

The topic of length is one of our favourites because we get to really measure. We went out of our class to measure the corridor of our classroom. It was really fun.

Our next favourite topic is mutliplication adn division because we get to compete with our friends when a multiplication or division card is drawn out! At times, we got overly excited that we have to shout our answers which troubled our teachers. Oops!

The next fun topic is on numbers within 1000. We learnt about odd and even numbers and patterns. We role-played as teachers to create a pattern for our friends to try out.

Can't wait for the next semester where we get to learn more about Maths and do more hands-on activities.

What's Those?

Wow!!! Look at all those chinese instrument. I've never thought I had a chance to get so close to them. Thanks to our music teachers they allowed us to touch, play and strum on them.
Do you know that this is called a suona. There's so many buttons on it. I wonder how the performer remembers which keys are for which notes.

Dong Dong Dong Dong Dong-DONG! The drums resonates beautifully as we beat the rhythm together!

What about this? Don't you love our group photograph! It's really heavy for us to carry! The strings are made from wire. It hurts when we tried strumming on it. It takes hard work to play it melodiously!

Remembering Mr Lee Kuan Yew

The whole nation was very upset that we've lost another great leader, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. We learnt that he was a man with vision. He was determined and caring. Through our teachers, we also realised that Mr Lee Kuan Yew was a very organised person. He stated his priority right and was hunble as well.

As the nation mourns for the week. We also did our part in writing thank you notes. His story lives on forever in us and we will continue to strive to achieve the best that we can.

Cling Clung Clong Dang

What's going on in class today? We're having a swell time trying out how to play on all sorts of classroom percussion instruments. Some of them resonates and some don't. Some are tuned and some are untuned. We took turns to strike, shake, scrap on the instruments.  Most of them are made from metal, wood and plastic.
This is a gong. We like it because it really sounds!

Check those cymbals out too! We can rub the two metal plates together and produce a different tonality.
We love sleigh bells the most because it give us a christmas feel. It really jingles all the way! We wonder what's install for us on our next music class.

PAL - Visual Arts

We don't need to be an artist to be awesome. We enjoyed our PAL session on Visual Arts. We learnt about Singapore and the ASEAN countries. We learnt that they have different national icons and what they represent too.

We were tasked to brainstorm for a logo in pairs. We're looking serious because it must be something significant.

We also solved a puzzle together.

We had to put on our aprons to keep our uniforms clean. We travelled around the countries that we discussed about in the lesson using paints and all sorts of other painting equipment.
See how our "footprints" turned out to be. Aren't they beautiful. We can't wait for the next lesson. It's going to be loads of fun again! Yahooooo!!!!

Fighting Climate Change

We had an exciting afternoon assembly talk in school. It's all about fighting climate change. The speakers performed very well and gave us a strong message what's climate change means. Now we know why the weather changes so drastically within a day in Singapore. We experience super warm temperature and heavy rains that floods terribly. We need to change our energy consumption habits.

First, always remember to switch off all the electric if we aren't using them. If we need to cool down the room, we must turn the temperature of the aircon at 25 degrees. We can also use a fan too. We can travel green by taking public transport or even walk to nearby places. And also practise the 3Rs, recycle, reuse and reduce.

After the performance, some of us were chosen to answer the quiz. One of our Primary 2 friend was lucky to be up on the stage too.

Look at him, he answered the questions very quickly and recieved his prize.

Congratulations to our friend.
Let's all start playing a part in fighting climate change for a better future!

Library Visits

When the library visits our school, we always get to listen to exciting stories. This time, we got to listen to a story about a girl who was clever enough to trick all her friends who liked to copy her style. How ever the girl tied her hair up, her friends will go "ugly ugly, very ugly" but the next day, they will copy what she did the previous day. In the end, she told everyone that she would be shaving her hair bald and.....YES! All her friends and even her teacher also shaved their heads! So the girl had her last laugh.

After the story telling session, the librarian gave us a quiz on the story. And some of our lucky friends won the prize. Congratulations to all. Daddy and Mummy, let's go to the library soon alright....

Monday Story Telling

Every Monday, we have English story telling happening in the school hall for all to enjoy and learn values. One of our friend in Primary 2 practised very hard with his teacher every morning to get prepared for the story telling session.
He was scare at first facing a huge crowd on stage but he took the courage to present the story confidently.

We're so proud of him Keep up the great work. We hope to be like him one day as well. Stand tall and confidently in front of all our friends on stage presenting beautiful stories for all to enjoy. We wonder who will be up next. Hope it's from our level again! Hurray!!

New School Year 2015

It is the new school year! We are in Primary 2 now. There are lots more fun and exciting challenges awaiting for us. In week 1, we have PAL session to kick start the fun. There are different modules of PAL for us to participate in. They are Sports and Games, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Outdoor Education. All the eight classes of Primary 2 enjoyed an awesome first PAL session. Let's see what we did for Sports and Games first.
We're so excited for our first game in Sports and Game.
We're discussing what actions suits the best for Tarzen, Jane and Monkey. Think..think...think....
And here's our version of Jane because she is gentle and kind. She taught Tarzen all about being human. Our teachers play along with us as well. It is through all these fun activities that we learn to become spatially aware, respect one another's boundaries and know our limits. Stay tune for more actions in PAL.
